Trump names leaders of new federal AI task force
President Donald Trump announced the leadership and duties of a federal task force called the “Super Intelligence Force.” It will coordinate government engagement with consumers, public interest groups, religious organizations, infrastructure providers and AI companies.
The group will be led by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton, Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Defense Department Under Secretary Emil Michael and Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor. It will report to Trump and White House chief of staff Susie Wiles.
Trump said the task force would protect Americans’ interests and help the country lead in artificial intelligence. The announcement follows safety concerns about AI and a White House meeting last week where technology executives signed a voluntary commitment to better police their companies’ AI models. The administration has emphasized competing with China and expanding AI-driven economic gains.
