Former Lansing mayor David Hollister dies at 84
David Hollister, who served as Lansing mayor from 1993 to 2003 after two decades in the Michigan Legislature, has died at age 84.
Mayor Andy Schor credited Hollister with helping retain General Motors in the region, bringing minor league baseball to Lansing and creating the Stadium District. Schor also said Hollister worked to support the city’s financial stability and advance plans for a new City Hall and performing arts center.
Hollister also worked as a teacher and state director, and later held a leadership role at Michigan State University through Prima Civitas.
