Michigan women’s soccer Falls 6-5 to Purdue in second-half Rally

Michigan’s women’s soccer team scored five second‑half goals but fell 6-5 to Purdue on Thursday (Oct. 8) at Folk Field, with Ella Jablinskey and Lilley Bosley each netting two goals and Elle Ervin converting a penalty kick.

Purdue opened the scoring in the 12th minute and extended its lead to 4-0 by the 43rd minute. Michigan answered in the 52nd minute when Bosley scored off an assist from Luciana Latino, followed by Ervin’s penalty in the 53rd minute to cut the deficit in half. Jablinskey added a second goal in the 66th minute, Purdue responded in the 73rd, and Jablinskey again in the 76th to bring Michigan within one. Purdue regained a two‑goal advantage with a penalty in the 82nd minute, and Bosley finished the game with a second goal in the 90th minute.

The Wolverines finished with 14 shots, including eight on goal, while Purdue recorded 17 shots with nine on target. Michigan outscored Purdue 5‑2 in the second half and earned four of its five corner kicks after halftime. The team will host Wisconsin for its Pups at the Pitch match on Sunday (Oct. 11) at 1 p.m. inside U‑M Soccer Stadium.
