Eaton County voters to decide on transportation millage

Eaton County voters will decide next month on a millage to fund local transportation through the Eaton County Transportation Authority, or EATRAN.

The measure would extend EATRAN’s Dial‑A‑Ride service, which has completed nearly 400,000 rides in the past five years and serves residents who need help getting to grocery stores, doctors, and other destinations.

The millage is a quarter of a mill and would continue at the current rate for five years; for a home with a taxable value of $100,000, the cost would be about $25 per year. Voters can view the EATRAN mill rate estimator on the agency’s website to see how the proposal would affect their taxes.
