Aizpurua steps down as EH Bildu spokesperson for Congress

Mertxe Aizpurua, the current spokesperson for EH Bildu in the Congress of Deputies, announced that she will not run again as the head of the coalition’s list in the upcoming general election on November 29. Born in Usurbil, Guipúzcoa, on January 18, 1960, Aizpurua has served in the Lower House for the last three legislatures and, at 66, has decided to end her institutional career and retire.

Following the electoral advance, the Political Table of Hegoalde of EH Bildu has launched a participatory process to define its lists for Congress and the Senate for the November 29 appointment.

The leadership of the sovereignist left will convene on October 16 to finalize candidacies for Álava, Biscay, Guipúzcoa, and Navarre. Bilkides will then validate the proposals through a telematic vote on October 17 and 18, and the final list of the independentist formation for Congress and the Senate will be made official on Monday, October 19.
