300 volunteers assemble 1,000 foster care kits for Michigan children

More than 300 employees from Lake Trust Credit Union gathered in Lansing to assemble 1,000 backpacks filled with supplies for children entering Michigan’s foster care system.

The backpacks, dubbed “first night kits,” are tailored to infants, young children, and teenagers, containing essentials such as teethers, onesies, bottles, a fleece blanket for babies, and journals, hairbrushes, and other items for teens.

The kits will be distributed to 14 non‑profit organizations across Michigan, including several in the Lansing area, providing foster children with a dignified and supportive transition into their new homes.
