MSU theatre department stages modern take on Shakespeare’s midsummer dream
Michigan State University’s Department of Theatre has opened a new season with a modern rendition of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” The production, titled “Midnite,” was written by Reina Hardy and Rory Leahy and directed by Professor Rob Roznowski.
The play follows a group of college‑aged film majors who venture into the woods to shoot a horror movie, a storyline that evolves into an unexpected confrontation with forces of love and madness. Drag consultant Crystal D’Light contributed to the production’s unique style and spirit.
Tickets are priced at $28.50, with discounts available for seniors, faculty, students and youth. The show is part of the Greater Lansing community’s cultural offerings.
