Vance and Ocasio-Cortez rally in Michigan ahead of Senate vote
Vice President JD Vance and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez addressed separate crowds in Michigan on Thursday to support opposing candidates in the state's closely watched Senate race. Vance campaigned for Republican nominee Mike Rogers at the LevelUp Training Complex in Monroe, while Ocasio-Cortez joined Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed for a rally in Marquette.
The two national figures delivered sharply different messages to voters. Vance accused El-Sayed of prioritizing foreign conflicts over Michigan issues, calling him "a little weasel" and "one of the worst people running in the history of the United States of America." Ocasio-Cortez countered that Republicans were trying to make voters fear El-Sayed, highlighting his work providing glasses to children while criticizing Rogers for taking checks from pharmaceutical interests.
El-Sayed responded to Vance's comments by joking about the Michigan-Ohio rivalry, stating that while Vance might be a Buckeye, Michiganders are Wolverines. Recent polls show the race remains tight, with an InsiderAdvantage survey from October 9 and 10 placing El-Sayed at 48 percent and Rogers at 46 percent among likely voters.
