Eaton County man extradited to Florida on child sex crime charges

Austin Jeffrey Alden, 19, of Mason, was arrested in Eaton County and extradited to Florida on charges related to sending sexual images and videos to a 13-year-old. Alden was booked into the Walton County Jail on October 3 and is being held on a $200,000 bond.

The investigation began in June when the parents of the 13-year-old victim found concerning messages on their child's phone and contacted the Walton County Sheriff’s Office. Digital investigators determined that Alden had communicated with the child through an online platform before moving to text messages.

Alden faces charges including using a computer to solicit a child, using a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony, and six counts of transmitting harmful material to a child. Walton County Sheriff Michael Adkinson stated that the office would pursue suspects regardless of their location if they victimize a child in the county.
