MSU doctor faces new sex crime allegations in East Lansing

Arpit Saxena, a former Michigan State University osteopathic medicine resident, is behind bars facing criminal sexual conduct charges after new allegations emerged from two separate patients. Attorneys representing the women, identified as Jane Doe in court filings, say Saxena assaulted them during medical examinations at the MSU Health Care Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Clinic in East Lansing.

One plaintiff alleges that in January 2025, she visited Saxena for hip and groin pain following childbirth and was groped and massaged inappropriately. Another patient, treated for back and neck pain, claims she was assaulted during two visits that were classified as non-sensitive examinations, meaning no chaperone was present. Both women stated they did not realize they had been assaulted until Saxena was arrested and charged in September 2026.

Michigan State University admitted that a sexual assault complaint was reported on April 3, 2025, but the university waited four days before removing Saxena from patient care. He was dismissed on October 8, 2025. The university also failed to notify the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs within the required 30-day window, a regulatory lapse that attorneys say undermines public trust in the institution.
