Ingham County Fairgrounds moves ahead on new grandstand

Ingham County Fairgrounds officials are moving ahead with plans to build a new grandstand in Mason, years after the original structure was torn down because of safety concerns.

Fairgrounds Event Director Lindsey McKeever said the project is underway with support from a federal grant. The county purchasing department recently opened bidding for the new structure, and officials hope it will be completed by next year’s fair.

The old grandstand was removed in 2016. McKeever said officials hope to expand the types of events held at the site once construction is complete.
