South Korean pastor met Trump at White House after imprisonment

South Korean pastor Son Hyun-bo met President Donald Trump at the White House over the weekend after spending months in prison in South Korea. Son leads the conservative Christian movement Save Korea and serves as senior pastor of Busan’s World Church.

Son brought his family to the White House and also visited the White House Faith Office, a unit that works with religious and community groups. No details of his conversation with Trump had been made public.

Son has organized rallies against the impeachment of former South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol and has raised concerns with U.S. officials about South Korean legislation affecting religious organizations, anti-discrimination rules and Christian alternative schools. He was indicted last year on allegations of illegal electioneering during South Korea’s presidential election and received a six-month prison term this year, with the sentence suspended for a year.
