Michigan coach says Ohio State game remains a top priority

Michigan head coach Kyle Whittingham said he understands the importance of the Wolverines’ rivalry with Ohio State and wants to win the matchup as much as anyone in Ann Arbor.

Whittingham, in his first season at Michigan after 21 seasons as Utah head coach, said Monday that his earlier comments about not hating Ohio State or coach Ryan Day should not be mistaken for a lack of urgency about the game.

He said Michigan has reminders of the rivalry in its football facilities but is first preparing for its season opener against Western Michigan and the games before the late-November matchup in Columbus.
