Jordan Lake closed after sanitary sewer overflow

Jordan Lake in Lake Odessa is closed to the public until further notice after overnight sanitary sewer overflows in three locations, according to Lakewood Wastewater Authority Plant Superintendent Doug Suntken.

Heavy late-night thunderstorms caused overflows at Bonanza Road, Hubble Road and Jordan Lake Street. Suntken said the Jordan Lake Street overflow entered the lake, prompting closures at the beach, memorial and boat ramp for no body contact.

Testing is underway, and the lake will reopen when the Ionia County Health Department clears it.
