Golf league cancels planned Michigan championship
LIV Golf canceled its season-ending team championship in Michigan, which had been set to begin Aug. 27 at The Cardinal outside Detroit.
The league said its individual and team champions instead will be crowned this week at its Indianapolis event, which starts Aug. 20. CEO Scott O'Neil said LIV Golf is focusing resources on its next phase and a transition to a new player-owned league model.
The Michigan cancellation is the second tournament the league has called off this season. The team championship had already disappeared from a TV schedule, and no major build-out work had begun at the course earlier this summer.
