El-Sayed campaign faces backlash over appearance with online streamer

Twitch streamer Hasan Piker said Michigan U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed asked him to campaign publicly during an interview Friday. Piker said the appearance triggered backlash from Democrats and establishment groups.

El-Sayed has since sought to distance himself from Piker, calling him a California streamer and saying reporters should focus on issues affecting Michigan. He also apologized for comments he made after a March attack on a synagogue in the state.
