Michigan loses top incoming freshman to season-ending knee injury
Michigan freshman Brandon McCoy Jr. will miss the entire 2026-27 season after tearing the ACL in his right knee during the final exhibition of the team’s recent foreign tour of Europe. The school announced the injury Tuesday after an MRI confirmed the tear.
McCoy, a five-star guard ranked 11th in the 2026 recruiting class by 247Sports, was expected to start after averaging 14.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 steals in the tour’s first two games. His absence moved Michigan to No. 16 in the latest CBS Sports preseason Top 25 And 1 rankings.
