Ingham court blocks Kalshi event contracts for Michigan residents

An Ingham County Circuit Court judge issued a preliminary injunction blocking prediction-market platform Kalshi from offering event contracts to Michigan residents, Attorney General Dana Nessel said. The state alleges the contracts amount to unlicensed sports betting.

Kalshi could face penalties of up to $500,000 per day for violating the order. The injunction follows a June temporary restraining order and a lawsuit filed in March over the company’s operations in Michigan.
