Diesel and gasoline prices hit record highs across the U.S. and Oregon

National average diesel prices climbed to $6.23 per gallon, while Oregon averages hit $6.67 per gallon, the highest for this time of year. Regular gasoline also rose, with the national average at $4.33 per gallon and Oregon at $5.12 per gallon, marking record highs for September 15.

Crude oil prices surged above $100 per barrel, driven by attacks on Saudi Arabia’s pipeline and disruptions in the Red Sea and Strait of Hormuz. These supply chain shifts, combined with the seasonal switch to winter‑blend fuel, pushed pump prices higher across the country.

Demand for gasoline fell from 8.92 million barrels per day to 8.55 million for the week ending September 4, while domestic supply rose from 205.7 million to 206.9 million barrels. The increase in pump prices translates into higher costs for everyday drivers and businesses.
