House bills would change crypto taxes and federal Bitcoin holdings
Two crypto-related bills are set for consideration by the U.S. House this week, including a measure that would exempt qualifying crypto transactions worth $10 or less from capital-gains calculations.
The tax bill would also apply stock-style wash-trading rules to crypto, ending the ability to sell at a loss and immediately buy back the same position for a tax advantage.
A separate Strategic Bitcoin Reserve bill would require the government to hold its bitcoin for at least 20 years, disclose agency holdings and undergo annual independent proof-of-reserves audits. The House committee vote is set for Wednesday.
