Plane lands on I-69 shoulder after mechanical failure in Flint Township
On Saturday afternoon, a single-engine DA-20 aircraft landed on the shoulder of I-69 in Flint Township after a mechanical failure. The pilot was attempting to land when the engine stalled, but was able to bring the plane down safely near the Bristol Road Exit and I-75. No vehicles were damaged and no injuries were reported.
All lanes of westbound I-69 at Bristol Road were closed while the incident was handled. The highway has since reopened. Police investigators are working with the FAA and authorities at Bishop Airport. A spokesperson for Bishop Airport confirmed that the incident did not impact airport operations and that the airport remains open and operational.
