MSU marketing students continue farm sanctuary volunteer tradition

Members of the Michigan State University Marketing Association volunteered at Mitten Misfits Farm Sanctuary in Grand Ledge on Sunday, October 11, continuing a three-year tradition of community service. The group, which identifies as the largest major-related club at the Eli Broad College of Business, spent the morning performing hands-on farm work.

Students were divided into five groups to complete tasks such as unloading donated food, breaking down boxes, and feeding animals at the nonprofit sanctuary, which primarily cares for animals with special needs. Mitten Misfits event coordinator Casey Ehlert noted that the volunteers helped expose students to the specific needs of farm sanctuaries and the daily realities of the organization.

Volunteers, including marketing sophomore Gianna Conflitti and events director Madelin Medvitz, described the experience as rewarding due to the opportunity to bond with the animals and learn their individual stories. The sanctuary continues to welcome student volunteers to support its mission.
