CBS correspondent apologizes for post on El-Sayed town hall

CBS chief legal correspondent Jan Crawford apologized on Sunday for a social media post in which she praised a heckler who questioned Democratic Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed about the Muslim Brotherhood. Crawford deleted the post, stating it was a violation of CBS News standards.

The deleted post described El-Sayed's response to a man named Tommy, who asked if El-Sayed would disavow the Muslim Brotherhood, as a "spectacular self own." El-Sayed responded to the question by saying, "Sure. Yeah, absolutely," before questioning the implication of dual loyalties.

The incident drew criticism from media figures who noted Crawford's role as a legal correspondent rather than an opinion commentator. The apology comes as CBS faces scrutiny over political bias following the appointment of Bari Weiss as editor-in-chief in October 2025.
