Eli Savit wins Michigan attorney general race

Democrat Eli Savit has been elected Michigan attorney general, defeating Republican challenger Doug Lloyd in the November 3 general election. Savit, the current Washtenaw County prosecutor, secured 52.3 percent of the vote compared to Lloyd’s 44.9 percent.

The race was called at 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Savit will succeed Dana Nessel, a fellow Democrat who is term-limited and unable to seek another term. Lloyd, who ran for the state office, serves as the Eaton County prosecutor.
