Three juveniles taken into custody after handgun threat near Waverly High School

Three juvenile suspects are in custody after deputies responded to a report of individuals threatening a person with a handgun near Waverly High School on Friday. Eaton County Sheriff’s Office deputies located the suspects and a moped in the 5600 block of W. Saginaw Highway in Delta Township, detaining one suspect at the scene while the other two initially fled.

Waverly Community Schools placed a precautionary lockdown on the district, though classes were not held due to a Boil Water Advisory in Delta Township. Deputies established a perimeter near Waverly Road and St. Joseph Highway, and with assistance from a K-9 unit, located the remaining two suspects and took them into custody.

Authorities confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public. The case has been referred to the Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau and remains under investigation, with assistance from the Lansing Police Department, Lansing Township Police Department, Potterville Police Department, and Michigan State Police.
