Bicyclist killed, sister critically injured in Ingham County crash

A 12-year-old boy died and his 13-year-old sister suffered life-threatening injuries Saturday after an SUV struck the bicycles they were riding on the shoulder of Grand River Avenue near N. Meech Road.

Michigan State Police said a 64-year-old Williamston woman was driving west when she hit the bicyclists shortly after 11:30 a.m. The boy died at the scene, while his sister was taken to a hospital. Police have not provided an update on her condition.

Investigators said drugs and alcohol do not appear to have contributed to the crash.
