Congressman Van Drew to hold hearing on noncitizens on nj voter rolls

Rep. Jeff Van Drew will convene a House Judiciary subcommittee hearing on September 15 to investigate how approximately 6,600 noncitizens were placed on New Jersey's voter rolls.

The hearing, titled 'Restoring Election Integrity: Oversight of Voter Fraud in New Jersey,' will focus on the software failure by vendor IDEMIA that led to the inclusion of noncitizens in the voter-registration system.

Van Drew, who chairs the Subcommittee on Oversight, will seek answers on how the failure occurred, why it wasn't detected sooner, and which elections may have been affected.

Governor Mikie Sherrill responded to Van Drew's questions, attributing the issue to a software glitch and emphasizing the need for further investigation and removal of affected individuals from the rolls.
