Economists see broad Global AI gains favoring developed markets

A survey of 94 economists conducted by the Financial Times found that 54 percent of respondents believe artificial intelligence-related productivity gains and economic growth will be widely shared worldwide. Most participants in the poll predicted that Group of 20 nations would experience broad or nearly universal gains from AI over the next decade.

Despite the optimistic outlook on global adoption, the survey highlighted that developed economies are better positioned to capitalize on these technologies due to stronger infrastructure and investment capacity. Economists warned that some emerging markets with weaker infrastructure or high concentrations of outsourced business services may face vulnerabilities as AI replaces certain roles.

These findings align with recent projections from Vanguard, which expects international developed-market stocks to outperform U.S. Stocks over the next 10 to 30 years. The financial firm’s model suggests that companies in wealthier nations, which have established foundations, will benefit most from adopting AI technologies, while emerging markets May underperform in comparison.
