Election deniers advance in key secretary of state races

More than two dozen election deniers ran this year for secretary of state, according to the States United Democracy Center. Six won their primaries and reached the November ballot, including candidates in Arizona, Nevada and Wisconsin, states expected to play key roles in the 2028 presidential election.

The races have gained national attention as secretaries of state oversee election administration. The Trump administration’s effort to restrict mail voting remains temporarily blocked by a federal judge and is under appeal.
