Florida Republican primary highlights growing GOP fight over bigotry
Rep. Randy Fine defeated right-wing influencer Dan Bilzerian in the Republican primary for Florida’s 6th Congressional District, with Bilzerian receiving about 19 percent of the vote after more than 90 percent of ballots were counted. Fine had Trump’s endorsement and won easily.
The campaign featured antisemitic attacks from Bilzerian and anti-Muslim statements from Fine. House leaders from both parties condemned the attacks, while the contest intensified broader Republican divisions over Gaza, Israel and antisemitism.
Fine, who entered the House after winning a 2025 special election, has drawn national attention for his loyalty to Trump and repeated comments targeting Palestinians and Muslims. The primary raised questions about how the party will address bigotry as those disputes continue.
