Giffords and Everytown launch $10 million ad blitz for 2026 congressional races

Giffords and Everytown have each announced a $10 million independent advertising push for the 2026 congressional cycle, making them the only gun‑policy groups actively spending in this arena. As of October 7, Giffords’ Federal Election Commission filings show $6 million in ad spend, while Everytown’s totals have yet to be reported. The groups are targeting close races where polling indicates the public is concerned about safety and open to gun restrictions.

Giffords’ ad budget is spread across eight key races, including $1 million on former Rep. Mike Rogers in the Michigan Senate, $921,966 on Rep. Jen Kiggans in Virginia, $860,274 on Rep. Bob Bresnahan in Pennsylvania, $857,139 on Rep. Anna Paulina Luna in Florida, $796,213 on Rep. David Valadao in California, $378,426 on Rep. Tom Kean in New Jersey, $375,338 on Rep. Bill Huizenga in Michigan, and $342,574 on Rep. Christina Hines, who is running against Rep. Michael Bouchard in Michigan. Emma Brown, the group’s executive director, told Semafor that Giffords is targeting close races where polling indicated the public is concerned about safety and open to gun restrictions.

Everytown’s $10 million ad blitz covers a similar set of races, with two candidates in common: Hines and Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti, who is running against Bresnahan in Pennsylvania. The group also plans to support Christina Bohannan in Iowa, Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivet in Michigan, JoAnna Mendoza in Arizona, Pia Dandiya in Florida, Lindsay James in Iowa, and Sarah Trone Garriott in Iowa. In addition, Everytown has donated $250 k to Greater Garden State, $250 k to the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, $125 k each to the Democratic Governors Association and the Democratic Attorneys General Association, and $50 k to the With Honor Fund III, with $22,250 to 12 individual Democratic candidates.
