Gilchrist leads Forlini in Secretary of State race; AG race tied in Mitchell poll

Mitchell Research and Communications released a poll on Thursday showing Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist II leading Macomb County Clerk Anthony Forlini in the Michigan Secretary of State race by 5 percentage points, with 41% to 36%. The poll also reports 6% of voters supporting third-party candidates and 18% remaining undecided, and has a margin of error of 3.8%.

In the Attorney General contest, Washtenaw County Prosecutor Eli Savit and Eaton County Prosecutor Doug Lloyd are tied at 36% each, with 7% of voters favoring third-party candidates and 21% undecided. The survey highlights strong support among younger voters, with Gilchrist leading the 18-29 demographic by 36% to Forlini's 14%, and Savit ahead in the same age group by 28% to Lloyd's 10%. Among independents, Gilchrist holds 36% to Forlini's 22%, and Savit leads with 31% to Lloyd's 23%. Michigan voters will cast ballots on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3.
