Indonesia’s July inflation eased as some food prices fell

Indonesia’s annual inflation rate reached 2.88% in July 2026, while consumer prices fell 0.14% from June, Statistics Indonesia said.

Food, beverages and tobacco made the largest contribution to annual inflation, adding 0.87 percentage points. Fresh fish, cooking oil, rice, cigarettes, chicken, red chillies and beef were among the main drivers.

Transport added 0.62 percentage points, led by petrol, air fares, lubricants, motorcycles and cars. Personal care and other services added 0.61 percentage points, mainly because of gold jewellery.

The monthly deflation came mostly from lower prices for shallots, red chillies, bird’s eye chillies, chicken eggs and tomatoes. Gold jewellery prices also fell on the month.
