Ingham County reports 925 cases in Michigan cyclosporiasis outbreak
Michigan reported 233 new cases of cyclosporiasis in the past week, bringing the statewide total to 14,510 as of Aug. 27, according to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Ingham County has reported 925 cases as of Aug. 20.
Two people have died in connection with the outbreak, and 356 cases had resulted in hospitalization as of Aug. 27. Health officials said new reports and diarrhea-related emergency visits are slowing, but residents should continue washing hands and surfaces, rinsing produce and avoiding recalled iceberg lettuce.
