Michigan early voting opens Saturday for November election

Early in-person voting begins statewide on Saturday, October 24, allowing Michigan residents to cast ballots before the November 3 election. The early voting period runs through Sunday, November 1, operating alongside absentee voting which started on September 24.

This early voting window was established by a constitutional amendment approved by voters in 2022, requiring a period that extends from the second Saturday before Election Day through the preceding Sunday. Municipalities and counties across the state have designated specific sites for these early voting days.

The Michigan Department of State reported that 789,476 absentee ballots had been returned by October 20, representing approximately 10.7 percent of active registered voters. This year’s election features a highly contested U.S. Senate race between Abdul El-Sayed and Mike Rogers, with campaign spending already exceeding $243 million.
