National Guard member arrested for carrying firearm after traffic stop
Spec. Jakob Noonan, 22, of the Oklahoma Guard, was arrested Monday in Washington, D.C., after a U.S. Park Police officer stopped his Honda SUV for an expired tag. He was charged with carrying an unauthorized firearm.
The arrest marks the second time in two months that a member of the task force has been arrested. The Guard deployment began in August 2025, and local officials view it as a waste of taxpayer money that has normalized a military presence in the city.
Noonan was off duty, not in uniform, and driving his personal vehicle when the officer observed an empty holster in the rear of the vehicle. He confirmed the firearm was registered to him in Oklahoma, and he was charged with carrying a pistol without a license. He had his first court appearance on Sept. 29 in D.C. Superior Court, but a phone call to his public defender’s office was not returned and an email was not answered.
