Pennsylvania race draws national attention over redistricting claims

Representative Scott Perry of Pennsylvania's 10th Congressional District has characterized his reelection bid as a close contest, attributing the shift in partisan balance to a redistricting map he described as unconstitutional. Perry stated that the district, which was previously a twelve-point Republican advantage, now favors Republicans by only three points following a 2022 redrawing of the map by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

The six-term representative criticized the state high court for altering the district boundaries without returning the map to the legislature, a move he said has led to a significant influx of campaign spending. He estimated that approximately twenty-five million dollars in outside money has been poured into the race, a figure he described as unusual for the region.

Democratic challenger Janelle Stelson and her campaign manager responded to Perry's comments and recent campaign advertisements, which included unsubstantiated claims about Stelson's personal history. The Stelson campaign called the ads a political hit piece and is currently weighing legal options in response to the allegations made during the final stretch of the campaign.
