Sean Duffy’s son-in-law wins Wisconsin House seat at age 26
Michael Alfonso, a 26-year-old Republican, defeated Democratic challenger Fred Clark to win Wisconsin's 7th Congressional District in Tuesday's election. Alfonso, who is married to Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy's daughter, will become the youngest member of Congress upon taking office in January.
The seat was previously held by Duffy, who moved to the Cabinet, and was vacated by Representative Tom Tiffany, who is running for Wisconsin governor. Alfonso, an accountant for the Diocese of Superior and a former construction worker, campaigned on affordability and restoring the American Dream.
Alfonso received endorsements from President Donald Trump and Duffy, with Trump describing him as a "MAGA warrior." The congressman-elect has pledged to champion policies for first-time homebuyers, reduce healthcare costs, and introduce legislation strengthening Title IX protections.
