Six dead in Missaukee County after manhunt for shooting suspect

Six people, including a suspect sought in a shooting investigation, are dead in Missaukee County, Michigan State Police confirmed. One additional person was hospitalized in critical condition.

Police had been searching for Chad Hickman, 39, of Lake City, described as armed and dangerous, after three people were found dead at a home on South Lachance Road. Investigators closed the road between West Rosted Road and West Jennings Road and urged motorists to avoid the area while a heavy police presence worked the scene.

Hickman was later found dead along with another person near his vehicle in a wooded area. State Police said they identified a third crime scene where another person was found dead, bringing the total to six deaths.

Investigators said they have not yet determined how the six people died, how they were connected to one another, or a motive for the killings.
