State police release ages of five killed in northern Michigan shootings

Michigan State Police released the ages of five people killed and a sixth person injured in a series of shootings Friday in Missaukee County.

Troopers responding to a reported shooting at a Lake Township home found a 16-year-old boy, a 40-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man dead. A 13-year-old girl at the home had been shot and was in stable condition at a hospital Saturday morning.

Authorities identified the suspect as 39-year-old Chad Hickman. During a manhunt, law enforcement found a 53-year-old man dead at another Missaukee County home, then found a 29-year-old woman and Hickman dead in a wooded area near Whitlock Lake after locating his vehicle nearby.

The names of the victims had not been released Saturday. State police were investigating a possible motive, and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said she had been briefed and would continue to monitor the case.
