Stocks rise as oil prices ease inflation worries

U.S. stocks rallied Monday as falling oil prices eased worries that inflation could worsen. The S&P 500 rose 1.5% and ended 0.1% below its record set earlier this summer.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 1.3%, and the Nasdaq composite climbed 2.1%. Brent crude fell 4.7% after President Donald Trump said he would hold off on ordering new strikes against Iran.

Lower oil prices helped Treasury yields fall and lifted airlines and other companies with large fuel costs. The 10-year Treasury yield fell to 4.68% from 4.75% late Friday.
