Supreme Court narrows challenge to federal election order

The Supreme Court on Aug. 24 stayed an injunction that had blocked parts of the administration’s election-related executive order in 23 states and Washington, D.C. The justices said the states and district lacked standing and that the case was not ready for review.

A separate Aug. 11 injunction remains in effect nationally, blocking portions of the order involving mail voting and citizenship checks. The Postal Service released a final rule on Aug. 21 to implement the order, while the broader legal challenge continues.
