Tommy Carr to start for Michigan against Indiana
Michigan quarterback Tommy Carr is set to start against Indiana on Saturday, following his performance in the Wolverines' 21-18 victory over Penn State. Carr entered the game in the second half to replace Bryce Underwood, who threw two interceptions in the first half while Michigan trailed 3-0 at the break.
In his limited action against Penn State, Carr completed five of seven passes for 47 yards and rushed for 36 yards, including a 12-yard touchdown run that served as the game-winning score. The true freshman from Saline, Michigan, is the grandson of former Wolverines head coach Lloyd Carr and the brother of Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr.
Underwood, a former five-star recruit, has completed 72 of 124 passes for 924 yards and five touchdowns with six interceptions this season. If Carr performs well against Indiana, coach Kyle Whittingham may give him another start against Rutgers in Week 9, marking a potential shift in the quarterback competition for the Wolverines.
