Trump launches investigation into Fed commissioner Lisa Cook

In a presidential memo Wednesday, Trump announced that he’d set up a committee to oversee an investigation into whether Cook had made false statements in connection to one or more mortgage agreements.

Cook, the first Black woman on the Fed board, has not been charged with any crime, and Trump’s own mortgage agreements match the same criteria used by the DOJ to go after Cook.

The new committee will meet next month to consider evidence and allegations against Governor Cook, Trump said, and the investigation is expected to have implications for ordinary people’s wallets.
