President Donald Trump directed federal agencies to remove Canadian goods from government contracts, escalating a trade fight between the United States and Canada. The White House said Canada’s “Buy Canadian” policy limits access for U.S. Companies seeking Canadian government business.

The order followed tariff measures after a trade truce between the countries collapsed in August. Trump also criticized a proposal for Canada to become an associate member of the European Union and threatened additional tariffs on European goods.
