Trump rallies in Port Huron with protests and counter-protests
President Donald J. Trump addressed thousands of supporters at McMorran Place in Port Huron on Sunday, October 25, less than 10 days before the midterm elections. The event drew a significant crowd that lined up as early as 9 a.m., while demonstrators and counter-demonstrators gathered on the surrounding streets of Huron Avenue and Grand River Avenue.
Protesters, including members of the grassroots group Blue Water Indivisible, held signs criticizing the president and Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed. On the opposite side, far-right agitator Jake Lang and a dozen supporters held signs with anti-Muslim rhetoric, creating a tense atmosphere that occasionally impeded traffic but resulted in few physical confrontations.
Local businesses near the event center, such as Senior Tequila Mexican Restaurant, reported slow business and moved outdoor furniture inside out of concern for potential clashes. The rally concluded around 5:45 p.m., with demonstrators lining the street to watch the president depart.
