UK announces sanctions on Israeli settlements despite us warnings

The UK government is moving forward with sanctions targeting Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, despite warnings from US officials and lawmakers about potential economic consequences. UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband announced that Britain would ban imports from Israeli settlements built on Palestinian territory, with the measures expected to take effect in six to nine months.

Miliband stated that the British government views the occupation of the West Bank as unlawful and believes this should be reflected in economic relationships. He also mentioned that the UK would take action against specific companies and individuals providing services for real estate expansion by settlers.

In response, the Israeli government announced it would close the British consulate in Jerusalem and ban twelve UK politicians from entering Israel. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee warned that the UK's actions could have implications for US-Israel relations and could impact British businesses in various US states.
