Vance questions if Trump would immediately endorse 2028 run

Vice President JD Vance said on Monday that he is unsure whether President Donald Trump would endorse him "right out the gate" if he runs for president in 2028. Speaking in an interview with journalist Mark Halperin, Vance noted that he has not yet discussed his potential candidacy with the president, though he expressed confidence that Trump would ultimately support him.

Vance explained that Trump’s endorsement carries unique weight because the former president won the trust of everyday voters while being rejected by party elites. The comments come as Trump has previously teased a potential matchup between Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio for the 2028 nomination, referring to the two as a "dream team." Vance said he and Rubio are currently focused on their current roles and the upcoming midterm elections, which he described as his top priority.
