White House bars Politico from Air Force One press pool
The White House barred Politico from the presidential travel press pool on Monday, preventing the outlet from carrying out its rotation as the print pool reporter. Other outlets declined to take Politico’s seat, and The Washington Post and CBS shared updates with the press corps while saying they were not replacing it.
Politico, CNN and MS NOW sued after President Donald Trump announced a ban on the outlets from the White House. A judge issued a temporary restraining order requiring the administration to restore their press badges. The outlets say the Air Force One exclusion will be included in a forthcoming court filing; a hearing on their request for a longer-term preliminary injunction is scheduled for Thursday. The White House says travel aboard Air Force One is a privilege, separate from access to the White House complex.
