Whitmer urges early voting as federal monitors target seven Michigan towns

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is urging Michigan voters to cast ballots early following an announcement that the U.S. Department of Justice plans to send election monitors to polling places in seven municipalities. Speaking at the launch of gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson’s “Driving Down Costs” bus tour in East Lansing, Whitmer said early voting would help voters avoid potential federal interference in the upcoming midterm election.

The event featured Benson and her running mate, Senate Majority Leader Winnie Brinks, who highlighted the ticket’s focus on education and labor rights. Lansing Mayor Andy Schor and Michigan Education Association President Chandra Madafferi also addressed the crowd, emphasizing the candidates’ ties to public schools and the importance of voter turnout in the final days before the November 3 election.
